Background:
"I grew up playing sports and being involved in school activities, so athletics has always been a big part of my life. Being a student-athlete has taught me discipline, time management, and how to stay focused on my goals. I've also always been interested in helping others, which is one of the reasons I want to pursue a career in the mental health field."
Future Aspirations:
"After graduating from FDTC, I plan to transfer to another college to continue both my education and athletics at a higher level. My long-term goal is to become a licensed mental health therapist. I've always been fascinated by psychology and understanding how people think and cope with challenges. I want to help people navigate difficult situations and support them in improving their mental health and overall well-being."
What led you to Florence-Darlington Technical College:
"I chose FDTC because it allowed me to continue playing softball while working toward my degree. I wanted a school where I could focus on both academics and athletics, and FDTC provided that balance."
Experience at FDTC so far:
"My experience at FDTC has been really positive. I've been able to focus on my classes while playing softball and gaining new experiences. Most of my professors have been supportive and understanding, especially when it comes to balancing school with athletics. Overall, my time here has helped me grow both as a student and as a person."
Biggest challenges and resources that helped you succeed:
"Like many students, there were times when balancing school, softball, and personal responsibilities felt overwhelming. During those moments, I reminded myself why I started and what my long-term goals are. Staying focused on my future and having a strong support system helped me keep going."
"One of the biggest factors that helped me succeed at FDTC was the support from my professors and the smaller class sizes. It made it easier to ask questions and get help when I needed it. Being part of the softball team also kept me motivated and disciplined because it required me to stay organized and manage my time effectively between school and athletics."
