Tech Stinger Men Improve Record
The Florence-Darlington Tech Stinger men won their second straight Region X series with wins in Sunday's double header over Southeastern Community College. The Stingers won the first game 11-6 with Jeffery Womack leading Tech in the hitting department with three hits and two runs. The Tech men pulled off a close win from Southeastern 4-2 in the nightcap. Stinger Pitcher Curtis Johnson pitched the entire game with 10 strike-outs and allowing only three hits.
Saturday, the men won their first game 13-2 against Southeastern but fell 7-9 in the second game. The FDTC men are now 17-15 overall and 10-10 in Region X. Stinger team advisor Rob Cooksey praised Danny Wiley and his daughter for volunteering to working the front gate. Cooksey said, "The Stingers and I truly appreciate all the volunteers who have supported Tech athletics. "The men face Methodist College in Fayetteville team on the road this Thursday. The men are home this weekend at Legion Field against Blue Ridge. The men only have one more home weekend before tournament action begins in May.
The women Stinger's weekend opponents were unable to field teams this weekend and had to forfeit their games against FDTC. The women return to action this weekend with home games against Pitt and Louisburg.
