Both Tech Stinger Teams in Weekend Action
The Florence-Darlington Tech Stinger men swept their weekend double headers earning high praise from the Morning News sportswriter. Gabe Cornwall wrote, "If FDTC's first year baseball program is experiencing growing pains, they didn't show Friday night at Legion Field. If anything, Wilkes Community College, a well established program, looked like the fledgling upstart." The Stingers won the first game 4-0 and drilled the Cougars 11-1 in the nightcap.
Saturday, the men Stingers made history by winning two more games from Wilkes giving the Stingers a first ever regional sweep of a four game series. The men won the first game 7-6 and and 4-2 in the second. Head Coach Curtis Hudson said, "Region X has always been known as tough conference to get wins in, especially if you're a fist-year program." The FDTC men are now 13-14 overall and 7-9 in Region X. The men face St. Andrews' junior varsity team on the road this Wednesday.
The women Stingers lost double headers against Mt. Olive on Friday, but had to forfeit Saturday's games against Southeastern Community College due to illness. The women return to action on the road Saturday against Spartanburg Methodist.

Stinger's first and second basemen get setup for an attempt at a double play against Wilkes Community College.
