Tech Stingers Play Home and Away Games
Florence-Darlington Technical College Stinger's ball teams got their first wins this past weekend and made their first road trip in regular season action. The men faced the Potomac State Community College Catamounts in a three game stand that saw the stingers winning their first victories of the young season. The Stingers won the first game Saturday afternoon 3-0 before falling to the Catamounts in the second game 4-2. On Sunday, the men avenged the second loss by beating Potomac squad 6-3. They face the St. Andrews Junior Varsity on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Legion Field with the first pitch at 5 p.m. The Stinger men won't get much of a rest as they face CCBC Dundalk of Maryland for three game home stand this weekend.
The women Stingers are still looking for their first win. They traveled to Erskine University for a double header falling 7-0 in the first game and 13 -1 in the second. Greta Culick provided the lone run for the women Stingers. Assistant Coach Robert Aun Sr. said, "the Erskine team is actually ranked higher that the Spartanburg girls and they were just too tough, but our players hung in there. Shaun (Head Coach Marsh) and I are proud of them." The women have a little break before facing in state rivals, Aiken Tech for a double header on Thursday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Freedom Florence.
